The World Billiards Association has slowly been rising in popular with each passing year. They are still no where considered to be a respected sport on a mass level such as soccer, basketball or baseball. Though it is players by hundreds and thousands of people every week it isn’t a sport that is played on a competitive level. It is a sport that is played in your local bar with your friends, Billiards could be said as the sport that has bonded friendships together the most. None the less the WPA is making an effort to become an Olympic game in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The fact of the matter is that they more than likely won’t be accepted into the 2020 Tokyo Olympics or the 2024 Olympics. It will be a long time until billiards will be able to reach its full popularity levels on a level that applies to both the people who wish to play competitively or who wish to play for pure enjoyment. Once this game becomes known for its competitive nature it will then be able to be accepted into the Olympics but that won’t be for a long time to come.
None the less we will keep you informed as to how the World Billiards Association does with their proposal to be in the 2020 or 2024 Olympics. It’ll be interesting if they were accepted as it would allow for the sport to grow to its maximum popularity in a much shorter time, it’d be only a few years until this game had leagues of its own across the globe.
